For centuries, the blacksmith was thought to hold magical powers. His hammer could take what looked like mere rocks to anyone else, and shape it into tools and weapons of the finest steel. As time went on, the tools became more and more specialized, and certain types became a sort of standard.

An anvil with hardie hole and pritchet hole. Chisels to shape and punch. Hardies, to mount in the hardie hole and help shape things precisely. Tongs, to hold the glowing billet of steel. Mandrels to shape rings and circlets. Different types of hammers for different purposes. Even a simple trough became an invaluable tool, to quench in water or oil.
